Project Spotlight: Swartz Kitchens & Baths PVC Roofing

At Moser Roofing Solutions, we solve problems in every commercial roofing situation we face. When we were called by Swartz Kitchens and Baths, we faced a few unique roofing challenges, including widespread vulnerabilities, leaks, and an older, poorly installed roofing section that would need to be navigated around. Find out how our roofing craftsmen expertly installed a brand-new PVC roofing system for our client that resulted in their satisfaction. They only wished they had met our team sooner!

The Background

We worked with Swartz Kitchens & Baths as a new client. Located in the northeastern portion of Harrisburg, they’re a major kitchen and bath supplier in the Central Pennsylvania area, catering primarily to high-end builders and homeowners. Previously, Moser Roofing Solutions had dropped in to leave informational materials at their facility—and the timing was right, as they reached out to Moser for a roof replacement.

The Project

This project was a commercial roof replacement for a large section of the facility’s roof. This section was significantly older and had begun to leak, threatening the building’s interior. Our client hoped to replace this entire section with new PVC roofing to restore the roof to excellent working condition.

As with all flat and low slope commercial roofs, this roofing system was a unique construction that featured some challenges that Moser Roofing Solutions would have to resolve. First, the primary culprits for the building’s leaks were the 56 skylights installed along the roof, which had been poorly sealed against water intrusion.

In addition, to reach the section of the roof that needed replacing, our team would have to carefully cross a section of roofing that had been previously replaced by another roofer. Unfortunately, that replacement had been poorly completed, leaving the customer to deal with the matter legally, and it was important to do no further damage to this portion of the roof.

The Solution

The Moser Roofing Solutions team conferred and developed a plan for this roof replacement. We recommended Duro-Last PVC roofing for the job. Duro-Last is an industry leader in roofing membranes and other commercial roofing projects, and our unique relationship with them as a leading installer enabled us to provide better warranty coverage for this roof replacement.

Before installing the new PVC roofing membrane, our team would first need to protect against leaks by addressing the roof’s primary weakness. Moser Roofing Solutions came up with a plan to deliberately and efficiently flash around each and every one of the 56 skylights on this roof to ensure complete protection against leaks.

The Result

With Project Manager Derek Shenk taking the lead on this PVC roofing project, Moser Roofing Solutions got to work. This roof replacement was a true team effort, with several of our contractors making significant contributions to the finished product. We fully replaced this PVC roof and expertly flashed around all of the building’s skylights, turning the building’s former leak risk into a reliable commercial roofing system that would properly drain moisture away.

Scott Swartz, president of Swartz Kitchens & Baths, was impressed with our work. He even reflected that he wished he had come across Moser five years ago—so that our team could have completed the roof replacement for the other section of roofing on this facility.
