About the Client: Mom’s House
Per the Mom’s House of Lancaster website, “Mom’s House believes that all parents have the right to resources to raise their children in conditions of dignity and financial independence.” Founded on this belief, the organization provides a variety of services to low-income single parents in Lancaster County who are enrolled in school full-time.
The services Mom’s House provides include free child care, parenting and life skills support, a food pantry, clothing, and more. Through their services, they aim to break low-income parents out of cycles of poverty and help their families achieve financial independence.
Project Background
The Mom’s House commercial flat roof repair was completed as part of our community give-back projects. Here at Moser Roofing, we’re not just a Lancaster roofing company, but a major part of our community. We seek out projects where we can work with important nonprofits and organizations like Mom’s House as a way of giving back.
The building where Mom’s House is headquartered features a commercial flat roof that was showing signs of severe damage. Our Roof Consultant, Tim, approached us about the need for roof repairs, and as Moser Roofing President Josh Moser put it, “He did not have to convince us to get on board.”
We were eager to help with this project and got to work right away!
Repairing the Commercial Flat Roof
After a thorough inspection, the Moser team determined that the roof would be best served by installing a roofing membrane over the existing structure. This would restore the roof to good working order while avoiding the need for a more costly and time-consuming roof replacement.
To complete the project, we needed to coordinate carefully. We would have to close down half of a two-lane street, as all demo debris and roofing materials had to be crane-lifted to the roof. This meant the project needed to be completed efficiently in order to minimize disruptions.
Once the logistics were sorted out, our team got to work! We installed a Duro-Tuff 50mm PVC membrane over the top of this roof. The material, frequently selected to restore commercial flat roofs, included a 20-year NDL warranty, guaranteeing that Mom’s House will have a perfectly functional roof for the next two decades!
